On the occasion of Madhya Pradesh’s 70th Foundation Day, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the ‘Wash on Wheel’ mobile app, introducing a new dimension of technological innovation to sanitation services under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), Department of Panchayat & Rural Development.
‘Swachhata Saathi – Wash on Wheel Service’, an innovative initiative of the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) under the Department of Panchayat and Rural Development, provides an online platform and mobile application for cleaning both individual and institutional toilets in rural areas of the state. This first-of-its-kind solution, initially launched in Chhindwara district in collaboration with NIC-MP, is now being implemented across the state.
Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayat and Rural Development Department, Smt. Deepali Rastogi informed that the key objective of ‘Swachhata Saathi – Wash on Wheel’ is to ensure accessible, affordable, and prompt sanitation services for rural toilets. Modern equipment, including pressure machines and safety kits, will be deployed to ensure efficient and hygienic cleaning. The initiative also promotes dignified and secure livelihoods for trained sanitation workers, who will provide quick services using two-wheelers. A cluster-based service model has been adopted to ensure sustainable sanitation management across villages.
The service aims to promote regular toilet usage in rural areas, strengthen sanitation management in household, institutional, and community toilets, and provide sanitation workers with secure, dignified, and sustainable livelihoods.
Mobile App Enables Online Booking and Monitoring
Cleaning services can be booked online through the ‘Wash on Wheel’ mobile app, which features an SMS-based simple login system. Users can select precise locations and choose their preferred date and time for service. The app allows real-time booking tracking, enables users to provide feedback after service completion, and incorporates geotagging for online monitoring of service delivery.
