Prayagraj, Nov 14 (Reporter) The students protesting in front of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) against the two-day examination and normalisation have a minor
scuffle with the police on Thursday, police sources said.
Police said that the agitating students broke the barricading and reached the main gate of the
UPPSC office in the morning.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner of Police (City) Abhishek Bharti termed the news of students being detained in front of the UPPSC misleading.
He said that the students are sitting on a peaceful protest. Some anarchists and miscreants entered among them and were trying to prevent communication with the government, administration and students and instigate them.
Bharti said that no student has been detained. This misleading news is being spread among the people.
He said that the police are continuously taking legal action against the anarchists who are coming among the students and misleading them.
He said that the students have been requested to protest peacefully and clear the road.
On the other hand the students alleged that the police arrived in civil dress and started thrashing them. They alleged that the police were stopping them from protesting. Some students were picked up and taken away in a vehicle.
A student Sandeep Kumar said that policemen in civil dress thrashed them and tore their clothes.
He alleged there are less students at the protest site, but at that time the police arrived in civil dress and started chasing them away. The police crushed the leg of a handicapped girl student.
Another student Akash Tiwari said that now the protest is no longer between commission versus students but government versus students. The government can inflict as many atrocities as it wants but they will not budge.
He said that the protest will continue until the commission issues an official order to restore the old system of one day examination and cancel normalisation...////...
