Jammu, June 21 (Reporter) The Jammu Kashmir Reserved Categories Empowerment Alliance (JKRCEA) (Socio-Religious and Retired Wing) on Friday demanded representation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities in the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC).
Addressing reporters, JKRCEA Working President Prof G L Thapa said that the slot for the SC member in PSC was vacant for almost two years and that for the ST member for more than one year.
The Alliance also sought immediate withdrawal of the new direct recruitment roster which had allegedly shrunk recruitment chances for SCs.
He also reiterated the SC/ST/OBC communities’ pending demands including restoration of reservation in promotions, implementation of Mandal Commission Report, on-ground implementation of SC/ST Atrocities and Forest Rights Act, distribution of free land to Balmiki Community, filling up of backlog vacancies of these communities, SC Component Plan, effective utilization, disbursement of both pre- and post-matric scholarships and a check on harassment of government employees.
The Alliance members also condemned repeated incidents of terrorism in J&K despite the “false claims” by the local government that militancy had been wiped out, especially after the abrogation of Article 370...////...
