Sensex still all time high at 79243.18 pts

Mumbai, June 27 (Reporter) Maintaining a gaining streak intact for the third straight session on Thursday, the BSE Sensex advanced 568.93 pts, breaching 79K level for the first time at 79243.18 at new peak on the strength of IT, Power, Telecommunications and Commodities stocks despite weak global cues. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) rose 175.70 pts to 24,044.50. Despite oscillation, the equity market ended in green only, as the Sensex rose 84 pts to open at 78758.67. During the day it was rallied 722 pts at 79,396.03, days high before closing at 79,243.18 from its previous close. In stocks, Power was a star gainer, up by 1.74 pc followed by IT by 1.65 pc, Telecommunications by 1.18 pc and Commodities by 0.82 pc. The NSE registered days high and low at 24,087.45 and 23,805.40 pts respectively. In 30 scrips, 22 advanced while 8 declined. The Mid cap rose 0.17 pc while Small cap fell by 0.57 pc. The gainers were Ultracemco by 5.38 pc to Rs 11750, NTPC by 3.16 pc to Rs 376.50, JSW Steel by 2.38 pc to Rs 941.30 and Tata Motors by 2.13 pc to Rs 972. The losers were L& T by 1.13 pc to Rs 3565, Sun Pharma by 0.37 pc to Rs 1516, Nestle India Ltd by 0.20 pc to Rs 2529.10 and HDFC Bank Ltd by 0.16 pc to Rs 1696.70. Asian market was seen weak as Hang Seng fell by 2.06 pc, Taiwan Weighted by 0.35 pc and Kospi by 0.29 pc...////...
