Sensex, Nifty at record high

Mumbai, June 27 (Reporter) India’s Benchmark Indices continue to search new level everyday as both BSE Sensex and Nifty maintained a gaining streak intact for the third straight session on Thursday as the BSE Sensex advanced 568.93 points, breaching 79K level for the first time to close at 79243.18 on the strength of IT, Power, Telecommunications and Commodities stocks despite weak global cues. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) also rose 175.70 points to close at all-time high of 24,044.50. The market opened on tepid note as the Sensex rose 84 points at 78758.67. During the day it rallied 722 points at 79,396.03, day’s high before closing at 79,243.18 from its previous close. In stocks, Power was a star gainer, up by 1.74 per cent followed by IT by 1.65 per cent, and Telecommunications by 1.18 per cent and Commodities by 0.82 per cent. The NSE Index registered day’s high and low at 24,087.45 and 23,805.40 points respectively. The foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) had sold in cash segment worth Rs 3,531 crore while the Domestic Institutional Investors (DIIs) were net buyers to the tune of Rs 5,104 crore in last trading session, according to data available. In 30-scrips index, 22 advanced while 8 declined. The Mid cap rose 0.17 per cent while Small cap fell by 0.57 per cent. The gainers were Ultracemco by 5.38 per cent to Rs 11750, NTPC by 3.16 per cent to Rs 376.50, JSW Steel by 2.38 per cent to Rs 941.30 and Tata Motors by 2.13 per cent to Rs 972. The losers were L&T by 1.13 per cent to Rs 3565, Sun Pharma by 0.37 per cent to Rs 1516, Nestle India Ltd by 0.20 per cent to Rs 2529.10 and HDFC Bank Ltd by 0.16 per cent to Rs 1696.70. Asian market was seen weak as Hang Seng fell by 2.06 per cent, Taiwan Weighted by 0.35 per cent and Kospi by 0.29 per cent...////...
