Amsterdam, Apr 23 (Reporter) Netherlands have announced a power-packed squad for their upcoming series against Scotland and UAE as part of the Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 2023-27 cycle.
The Dutch will play four ODIs in the first half of May – two each against Scotland and United Arab Emirates – in what are crucial fixtures on the road to the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, set
to be hosted in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
Led by skipper Scott Edwards, the 15-member squad features a mix of experienced internationals and big names such as Paul van Meekeren, Bas de Leede, Max O’Dowd, and the seasoned campaigner Roelof van der Merwe as they aim to consolidate their position on the League 2 table.
All matches will be played at two venues – VRA in Amstelveen and Kampong in Utrecht an ICC
report said.
The top four teams from the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 cycle will earn a place in the
ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 Qualifiers, where they will compete against six other countries from the ICC Men's ODI Team Rankings & the Qualifier Play-off.
The Dutch side's previous outing saw them take on Canada and Namibia in a tri-series in Namibia, where they won two games, while two games were abandoned due to rain.
