Mumbai, Apr 23 (Reporter) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Raut, on Wednesday held the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s alleged "politics of hate" accountable for the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which left 28 people dead.
Speaking to reporters here, Raut squarely blamed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for what he described as a failure of national security and called for his immediate resignation.
"Amit Shah is a failed home minister in the history of this country. The entire nation is demanding his
resignation. He does not deserve to remain in that position even for a day," Raut asserted.
The terror attack occurred at a prominent tourist site in Pahalgam, located in South Kashmir.
According to reports, the victims included mostly tourists, along with two foreigners—one from the UAE and another from Nepal—as well as two local residents. Several others sustained injuries in the incident.
Raut also referred to allegations made by some victims' families, who claimed that the attackers questioned the religion of their targets before opening fire.
“If terrorists ask about religion before killing, then BJP's politics of hate is to blame,” Raut said, warning that such divisive politics would eventually have consequences.
“The politics of hate will boomerang one day,” he remarked.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader went on to accuse the ruling coalition of prioritising political power over public safety.
“They are occupied day and night with engineering political coups and jailing opposition leaders. How can they protect the people in such a situation?” he questioned.
Targeting both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Shah, Raut recalled the government's earlier claims that demonetisation would bring an end to terrorism.
“After demonetisation, the Prime Minister said terrorism would end, but such attacks are only increasing,” he stated, further accusing the government of misleading Parliament by withholding details on terror incidents.
Raut also suggested that the government might use a "surgical strike" as a political tool ahead of the upcoming Bihar elections...////...
