Mumbai, Nov 17 (Reporter) Congress national spokesperson Dr Ragini Nayak on Sunday launched a frontal attack on the ruling BJP government at the Centre and in the state, alleging that there is a plan to shift the financial capital of the country from Mumbai to Gujarat.
Talking to reporters here, she claimed that BJP has discriminated against Maharashtra by stealing its industries and financial institutions from the state to Gujarat and alleged that there is a big conspiracy behind this politics of discrimination.
She said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has rubbed salt in the wounds of Maharashtra by inaugurating Tata Airbus project in Vadodara of Gujarat instead of Nagpur.
Apart from that, the Modi government has moved 17 major projects to Gujarat, including the diamond industry, International Financial Centre, Vedanta Foxconn for political gains, she said.
Dr Nayak alleged that the BJP-led government in Maharashtra has raised a mountain of debt of Rs five lakh crore in last 10 years.
In the year 2014, Maharashtra had a debt of Rs 2.9 lakh crore, which has now ballooned to Rs 7.82 lakh crore, she informed.
