Mumbai, Nov 17 (Reporter) A holiday court here on Sunday remanded an accused, arrested from Indo-Pakistan border in Punjab for his alleged involvement in the NCP leader Baba Siddique murder case, to police custody till November 21.
Accused Akashdeep Singh, hailing from Fazilka village near Indo-Pakistan border in Punjab, was arrested by Mumbai Crime Branch on Saturday, making him the 24 accused arrested in the case.
Singh has played an active role in conspiring to kill Siddique.
On October 12, between 2115 hours and 2130 hrs, Siddique was allegedly shot multiple times by three men as he exited his office in Bandra (West), Mumbai. Despite being rushed to nearby Lilavati Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, in the latest development, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested another accused from Akola in Maharashtra in connection with his alleged role in the case.
Saman Iqbal Vohra, a native of Gujarat, is the 25th person to be arrested in the case by the police so far.
A case has been filed under sections 103(1), 109, 125, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as provisions of the Arms Act and the Maharashtra Police Act at Nirmal Nagar Police Station against arrested accused.
