Shimla, Feb 21 (Reporter) Heavy snowfall over the last three days has cut off Lahaul-Spiti district from the rest of the country. Many roads are blocked, making travel difficult or impossible. In a press release issued today, Superintendent of Police Dr Karthikeyan Gokulachandran stated that NH-03 (Atal Tunnel to Keylong-Jispa) is closed due to two-feet of snow. No vehicles can pass over the snow-bound highway. Due to fresh snowfall on Friday, most roads, including those to Leh, Kargil, and Manali, are either blocked or closed until summer. Some roads are open only for 4x4 vehicles. The police official said that since it is not safe for driving on snow-covered roads no vehicles can ply till the Lahaul-Spiti road conditions improve. Snowbound people and tourists should keep an eye on official updates for any changes in the weather conditions.
