Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas on Birsa Munda's 150th birth anniversary on November 15 is an occasion to celebrate the grandeur of tribal culture and to honour talent. He has directed Collectors to organize the 150th birth anniversary celebrations of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda with full respect and dignity. He said that a series of social and cultural activities should begin in tribal-dominated districts and development blocks.

It is noteworthy that since 2021, Janjatiy Gaurav Diwas has been celebrated with enthusiasm to honor the sacrifices of freedom fighters from the tribal community and to glorify the splendor of their culture. The celebration was launched in 2021 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi from Madhya Pradesh. Under the leadership of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, the Ulgulan Revolution shook the foundations of British rule. Such tribal movements were not only important for challenging British oppression but also served as inspiration for national awakening. Due to Birsa Munda’s fierce leadership against British rule, November 15—his birth anniversary—became an occasion to honor tribal heroes.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, during the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrating 75 years of India’s independence in 2021, November 15 was declared as Janjatiy Gaurav Diwas. This day celebrates the glorious history, culture, and heritage of tribal communities. Nationwide events are being organized to highlight the unity, pride, and contribution of tribal communities to India’s freedom and progress. In Madhya Pradesh, the event is being celebrated with full dignity in line with the Prime Minister’s vision.
