Srinagar, Jan 7 (Reporter) At least five residential houses and several shops were gutted in a major fire incident that broke out at Srinagar’s Nowhatta area on Tuesday, officials said. The Fire and Emergency Service officials said that a fire broke out at around 8:30 am in a house in the Bahauddin area of Nowhatta in downtown and engulfed nearby houses, causing extensive damage to five residential houses. Several shops were also damaged in the inferno. They said several fire tenders were rushed to the spot from various stations of the city to douse the leaping flames.
