Jammu, May 27 (Reporter) Anticipating that the Pakistan with a motive to revenge the losses they have suffered due to befitting reply by the Border Security Force during ‘Operation Sindoor’, Inspector General, Border Security Force, Jammu Frontier Shashank Anand on Tuesday said that they are vigilant and maintaining high alertness along the borders.
The enemy may strike again with fresh infiltration attempts and cross-border firing, but the troops are on high alert and maintaining vigil all along the International Border and the Line of Control, along with the Indian Army and other security agencies, IG BSF here told reporters in his maiden press conference at the Frontier Headquarters.
“We are vigilant and maintaining high alertness along our borders because there are inputs that the enemy (Pakistan) may strike again and carry out plans like infiltration or cross-border firing to take revenge for the heavy losses they have suffered during Operation Sindoor,” he said
He was flanked by the senior officers of the DIG ranks, who supervised and successfully executed the ‘Operation Sindoor’ in their domain areas.
“BSF is 24x7 completely alert on the international border. Our endeavour is that in the coming times, especially when the Amarnath Yatra is going to start from July 3, all security-related arrangements should be in place and there will be no lowering of guards on the border,” said IG Anand.
“We will not allow any infiltration or other untoward incident from across the international border,” said the BSF officer.
During ‘Operation Sindoor’, the IG stated that the BSF acted as the frontline defence along with full support from the Indian Army, civil administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other intelligence agencies, adding, “the synergy between all the security forces and the security agencies resulted that that there was no civilian casualty in this border belt of Jammu, civilian assets were not damaged and our infrastructure, border management equipment were intact without any damage.”
From the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack onwards, he said, “We were on alert and troops were more vigilantly guarding the borders.”
The IG also stated that the BSF is also motivating the border dwellers to return to their native places and continue with their daily household chores assuring, “as far as the border belt is concerned, I would like to appreciate the border residents because they have been standing tall with the security forces in such situations.”
“The situation is normal and they (border people) can now return to their homes, and if any mischief is made by Pakistan, we assure them that the BSF will give them a befitting reply,” he said.
IG Anand on the use of weaponry by Pakistan, said, “We already had a lot of information about the weapons they have used, but this time, drone warfare has been used in a new way.”
“To better deal with this challenge, a lot of research and development work is going on, not only within the BSF but also in collaboration with other security forces and our research and development organisations, the private sector, public sector, all are working on this. And in the coming times, we can also cause more damage to the enemy with modern technology,” he said...////...
