Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, while offering prayers to Rajadhiraj Bhagwan Shri Mahakal on the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, stated that just as Emperor Vikramaditya exemplified ideal governance in Ujjain, India is stepping into its Amrit Kaal under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He also paid tribute to the great Indian hero and freedom fighter Shri Veer Durgadas Rathore, emphasizing that our land has always been the land of valiant warriors. Ujjain has held a distinguished place among the nation's heroic legacies. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav made these remarks during the inauguration of Vikramotsav-2025 at Dussehra Maidan, Ujjain.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Emperor Vikramaditya is the epitome of an ideal governance system. Whenever discussions arise about good governance, righteousness, justice, and duty, his name is always remembered. Known for his indomitable valor, Maharaja Vikramaditya was also renowned for his exceptional administration and leadership. With his strategic acumen and bravery, he successfully defeated and eradicated foreign barbaric invaders such as the Shakas, Huns, and Kushans. Emperor Vikramaditya also initiated Vikram Samvat in India, establishing Indian timekeeping as a globally recognized standard.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Indians have been following Vikram Samvat for the past 2081 years. Emperor Vikramaditya and the calendar named after him have gained unparalleled recognition, unmatched by any other ruler or era. The tradition of his Navratnas remains deeply embedded in collective memory. With the counsel of esteemed scholars, scientists, and warriors like Kalidas, Varahamihir, Shanku, Kshapanak, Amar Singh, Varruchi, Dhanvantari, Vetal Bhatt, and Ghatkharpar, he established one of India's most advanced judicial systems. Emperor Vikramaditya is a Loksiddha and Kaalasiddha leader—so influential that his very name became a title of distinction. His legacy is immortalized in texts such as Vikram Charitra, Kalka-Katha, Singhasan Battisi, and Prabandh Chintamani. He also contributed significantly to the construction and restoration of temples across the country.
