Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav unveiled the bronze statue of senior freedom fighter Shri Jawaharlal Darda at Seth Govinddas Government District Hospital in Jabalpur. He said that Shri Darda made significant contributions to India’s freedom struggle and had a deep association with Jabalpur. He also played an important role in expanding healthcare services in the region.
Dr. Yadav highlighted that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had a strong connection with Jabalpur during the freedom movement. At the young age of 23, Netaji passed the ICS exam, breaking the British notion that Indians were intellectually inferior. He also mentioned how Mahatma Gandhi, beginning his struggle in Africa, gave the freedom movement a new direction. Many great leaders made invaluable contributions to India’s independence.
Dr. Yadav further noted that Chandrashekhar Azad, who hailed from Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh, never accepted British rule and lived true to his vow to remain free until death. Shri Darda not only fought for India’s independence but also served in various ministries in Maharashtra for over 23 years, undertaking numerous works in public interest and social service.
