Itanagar, Mar 7 (Reporter) The Arunachal Pradesh Assembly on Friday passed two important government bills aimed at improving land management and mitigating flood risks in the state.
The Arunachal Pradesh Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, was passed by a voice vote.
Introduced by Land Management Minister Balo Raja on Thursday, the bill seeks to amend the existing AP Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 2003, to streamline land dispute resolutions.
“As per the amended legislation, the state government may, by notification, appoint any officer, not below the rank of Deputy Commissioner, as Appellate Authority where the Deputy Commissioner, while acting as an Estate Officer, has passed an order against which an appeal is filed,” the minister said.
The lawmakers also approved the Arunachal Pradesh Flood Plain Zoning Bill, 2025.
The bill, introduced by Water Resources Minister Biyuram Wahge on the first day of the five-day budget session, provides for zoning of floodplains of rivers across the state, restricting any human activities in the flood-prone areas.
The proposed legislation will help the state government avail the CSS funds from the onboard Flood Management Border Area Programme (FMBAP) under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt of India, for implementation of FMBAP projects.
