Chennai, Apr 11 (Reporter) Senior BJP Leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the residence of party leader and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and personally offered his condolences following the death of her father and Veteran Congress leader Kumari Ananthan a couple of days back. Mr Shah also paid floral tributes to a portrait of Mr Ananthan at her residence and consoled her and her family members. He also spent some time with her family members. Later, talking to reporters, Ms Tamilisai said earlier Mr Shah offered his condolences to her over phone. "Today he personally visited my house to offer his condolences", she said. "I thank Amit Shah ji, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and BJP leaders and functionaries for their condolences, despite my father being a Congress leader", she added. Later, Mr Amit Shah drove down to the residence of RSS ideologue and Thuglaq Tamil magazine editor S.Gurumuthy and held discussions with this. The magazine was started by late Cho.S.Ramaswamy who had been the political advisor to late AIADMK leaer J Jayalalithaa. The meeting with Mr Gurumurthy lasted nearly an hour during which he was said to have held wide ranging discussions on the present political situation in Tamil Nadu, the alliance strategy for the 2026 Assembly polls, including reviving electoral ties with the AIADMK, among other things. Mr Shah is expected to meet the leaders of main Opposition AIADMK with which it has been making moves to revive the alliance after 2023 ahead of the key 2026 Assembly polls, which is about an year away. A final shape on alliance was expected to emerge after the meeting with top AIADMK leaders to be held at a hotel where Mr Shah is expected to hold a press meet later in the day. The meeting was expected to carry forward the revival of ties, which was said to have taken a concrete shape during AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami's meeting with Mr Amit Shah in New Delhi recently. A post by Mr Shah after his meeting with Mr Palaniswami that a NDA government will be in place strengthened the speculation on alliance revival. In a single line post, Mr Shah wrote in Hindi and Tamil "After the formation of NDA government in Tamil Nadu in 2026, liquor flow and the cyclone of corruption will come to an end", virtually stating the ties is all set for revival with the AIADMK. If the sources are to be believed the ground work has been done and Mr Amit Shah's meeting was expected give a further fillip to renew ties with the Dravidian major. Mr Shah is also expected to meet leaders of other alliance partners, including taking PMK and others into the NDA fold...////...
