Bengaluru, Apr 11 (Reporter) Hailing the extradition of 26/11 conspirator Tahawwur Rana as a major diplomatic success for India, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday attacked the Congress, accusing the party of attempting to hijack credit for what he called a "decisive achievement" of the Modi government.
"The Congress party had served biryani to Ajmal Kasab and tried to make him strong," Joshi said, speaking to reporters here.
"From 2008 to 2014, they were in power. They did not do anything. The Modi government tackled this with deft diplomacy and brought Tahawwur Rana (from the US). Now they are trying to take credit for it."
The BJP leader said the extradition marked "the biggest victory for the diplomatic strategy of the central government led by Shri Narendra Modi."
"If they want to claim credit, let them. But the people of this country know very well what their attitude and stand on terrorism has been," he added.
Tahawwur Rana, a Pakistani-Canadian national and key plotter of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was extradited to India from the United States on Thursday, after years of legal proceedings.
The development has been lauded by the BJP as a significant milestone in India's global diplomatic outreach on terrorism...////...
