Lucknow, Jan 16 (Reporter) Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Thursday said that the opposition parties in Uttar Pradesh are troubled by the biased attitude of the government machinery, therefore, it is advised to fulfil its constitutional duty against the malicious and arbitrary actions of the bureaucracy in the districts. In a meeting of party officials and district Presidents at the party office here, Mayawati discussed a cadre-based strategy and gave necessary guidelines for the financial strength of the party. The presence of both the nephews of the BSP supremo, Akash Anand and Ishaan, remained a topic of discussion in the meeting. She said that according to the feedback received, people are troubled by the atrocities of the government machinery in the districts of UP, towards which the government needs to be serious and sensitive. She said, "The question of the people is natural due to the police action against the opponents. What kind of rule of law is this in UP that every crime of the people in power is overlooked? In such a situation, the state government is advised to fulfil its constitutional duty against the malicious and arbitrary actions of the government machinery in the districts of UP." The BSP supremo said that her party runs its activities only by taking financial help in various forms from its workers, whereas Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other opposition parties run their party activities by taking financial help from big capitalists and rich people. She said that according to the party's feedback from the districts of UP, the poor, oppressed, helpless and hardworking people are being arrested and imprisoned indiscriminately by adopting oppressive policies in the name of law and order in the state. "People find it worrying like police rule here, towards which the state government should be serious and sensitive like a court and must fulfil the responsibility of constitutional duty," she said. Mayawati said that especially after the police action against the opponents, people have naturally asked the question: what kind of rule of law is this in UP? "Why is every crime of theirs overlooked by the people in power? Will this improve law and order? Not only this but is it right to take action on civil cases like criminal cases? The state government must take proper cognisance of this," she said. She said, "Apart from this, the attitude of the administration and police in the districts is political, communal and casteist in most of the cases, due to which a general belief is being formed that all this is being done under the BJP's policy of using the government machinery and police for vote bank politics. In such a situation, the lack of rule of law is a major cause of concern for the people." The BSP supremo said that it is clear from the attitudes of the Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) governments earlier and now the BJP governments that their newly emerged love for the Bahujans, especially the Dalit community, is pure deception and more of electoral drama. "BSP's demand for Shah (Home Minister) to repent by taking back his anti-Baba Saheb statement also remains intact," she said...////...
