Chandigarh, Jan 16 (Reporter) Former Union Minister and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja on Thursday said that it has been 51 days that the hunger strike started by farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal at the Khanauri border, but the Central government has not yet woken up from its slumber.
What is the government thinking, what does it want to do, and what does it want to see? If any untoward incident occurs during this movement, it will be difficult for the government to manage the situation.
At Khanauri, 111 farmers have crossed barbed wires and joined the hunger strike, which serves as a warning to the government. Farmers sitting on protest are now talking about martyrdom. BJP leaders are misleading people regarding this movement. Farmers are deeply angered by the central government’s refusal to hold talks despite Dallewal’s worsening health.
The Lok Sabha MP said that to appease farmers, the Haryana government has implemented MSP for 24 crops and issued notification. However, the government has remained silent about giving MSP legal status and has clarified its stance on this matter. Most of the crops listed under MSP by the Haryana government are not even grown in the state.
The government is trying to gain praise by inflating the number of crops. The reality is that the state government is merely playing along with the directions of the central government, she added...////...
