Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has directed that district-wise mapping of horticulture crops should be conducted in the state. A work plan should be prepared for developing gardens on the vacant lands of universities and other government departments and for establishing nurseries under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. He emphasized organizing district-level workshops and fairs focused on horticulture and food processing to familiarize farmers and entrepreneurs with best practices from other districts. Farmers innovating in agriculture and horticulture should be honored for their achievements. A summit on horticulture and food processing, similar to the Investors’ Summit, should also be organized in the state. These instructions were given by CM Dr. Yadav during the review meeting of the Horticulture and Food Processing Department at Samata Bhavan (Chief Minister’s Residence). The meeting was attended by Horticulture and Food Processing Minister Shri Narayan Singh Kushwaha, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajora, and other officials.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the state government is implementing various initiatives to increase the area under horticultural crops. With favorable geography, adequate irrigation, and electricity availability, Madhya Pradesh aims to surpass the national average in horticulture. Interdepartmental coordination should be strengthened to create employment opportunities through food processing. A specialized cell focusing on technical expertise and employment generation in the food processing sector should be established. A region-specific work plan should be created for promoting horticultural activities in Chambal, Malwa, and Mahakaushal.
