Srinagar, May 3 (Reporter) Apni Party President, Altaf Bukhari, on Friday questioned why former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah hasn’t been arrested even though he is "involved in scams". Bukhari alleged that Abdullah was involved in the J&K cricket scam worth Rs 54 crores and no evidence was required to establish this corruption. “ Why isn’t he being arrested? Have you joined with (Narendra) Modi?” Bukahri asked while addressing a poll rally of the party at Upper Balhama in Srinagar. The National Conference has been accusing the Apni Party of being a proxy of the BJP. Hitting out at the NC Bukhari said Farooq Abdullah meets the Prime Minister during the night. “ I go and meet the Prime Minister during the day so that people have confidence in me. You (Farooq) meet them during the night and I know what transpires in these meetings. We know with whom you are in touch,” Bukahri said. Bukhari said that traditional political parties, particularly those rooted in family dynasties, have contributed nothing except corruption, deaths, and destruction over the years. He compared these political families to barren and thorny trees for the people, emphasizing the need for their uprooting. In a pointed critique aimed at the traditional parties, notably the NC and PDP, Bukhari asserted that these parties have damaged the interests of the people in Jammu and Kashmir to the core over the years and decades. The President of the Apni Party urged people to free themselves from the clutches of political dynasties that have been deceiving them for years and decades. “These parties are like thorny and fruitless trees, and they need to be uprooted,” he added.
