Weather improves, flight operation resumes at Srinagar International Airport

Srinagar, Jan 6 (Reporter) The weather improved across most parts of the Kashmir Valley following recent snowfall, allowing flight operations at Srinagar International Airport to resume on Monday after being suspended on Sunday, officials said. “The runway has been cleared of the snow, and visibility is good. Air Traffic Control (ATC) is going to clear flight operations,” Director of Srinagar International Airport Javed Anjum told UNI. He said all scheduled 37 flights will take off from the Srinagar International Airport on Monday. Amid poor visibility and foggy weather conditions, all flights to and from the Srinagar International Airport were suspended on Sunday. The weather improved in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley after experiencing fresh snowfall and rains on Sunday. The Meteorological Department in Srinagar has predicted isolated to scattered light rain and snow over the next 24 hours. The weather will remain dry during the next two days. The minimum temperature recorded during the intervening night of Saturday and Monday significantly improved but remained below freezing point all across the Kashmir Valley. Srinagar had a low of -0.5°C, and this was 1.4°C above the average for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir for the day. The minimum temperature at the ski resort of Gulmarg recorded at -4.5°C, and this was 3.3°C above normal for the valley of meadow during this period of the season. The tourist spot of Pahalgam in south Kashmir had a minimum of -1.4°C, Qazigund subzero, Kupwara -0.3°C, and Kokernag -0.4°C, the MeT office said...////...
