Vadodara, Jan 16 (Reporter) Vidarbha clinched a comprehensive 69-run victory over Maharashtra in the second semifinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Thursday, securing their maiden entry into the tournament final. Vidarbha, after being put to bat first, posted a commanding total of 380/3 in 50 overs. Openers Yash Rathod (116 runs off 101 balls) and Dhruv Shorey (114 runs) provided a solid foundation, stitching a 224-run opening partnership in just 34.2 overs. Karun Nair, finishing unbeaten on 88 off 44 balls, including four sixes in the final two overs, gave Vidarbha a late flourish. In reply, Maharashtra managed 311/7, falling short of the target of 381. Despite a valiant 90-run effort from Arshin Kulkarni and a steady 50 from Ankit Bawne, the chase never gathered momentum as Vidarbha’s bowlers kept the pressure intact. Darshan Nalkande (3/64) and Nachiket Bhute (3/68) were key in stifling Maharashtra's progress. Rathod was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant 116-run knock, which was the cornerstone of Vidarbha’s total. Maharashtra’s chase was marred by missed opportunities, including several dropped catches and unutilised reviews, which played a significant role in their defeat. With this win, Vidarbha will now face Karnataka in the Vijay Hazare Trophy final. This victory also marks Vidarbha's eighth consecutive win in the competition...////...
