UP stampede: Yogi reaches Hathras, takes stock of situation

Hathras, July 3 (Reporter) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday visited Hathras to take stock of the situation following the tragedy that struck several families during a stampede at a Satsang. Upon his arrival at the Circuit House in Hathras, the Chief Minister gathered information about the situation from the officials and gave necessary directives. He then went to Hathras district hospital to see the injured, and directed the doctors to ensure they received proper treatment. Yogi also visited the incident site amid heavy rains, where officials briefed him on the details. The tragic stampede occurred on Tuesday during Bhole Baba's satsang in Sikandra Rao in Hathras district, resulting in the loss of more than hundred lives. In response, the CM promptly dispatched a team consisting of three Ministers, the Chief Secretary, and the DGP to Hathras. He also appointed Additional DG Agra and Divisional Commissioner Aligarh to investigate the incident, directing them to submit a report within 24 hours. Yogi announced a financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for each injured. He also inquired about the health of the injured and discussed their treatment. The CM also held detailed conversations with the families of the injured. During his visit, he consulted with doctors about the condition of the injured and gave instructions for proper treatment. Yogi met with the families of the deceased, obtained information about the accident, and expressed his condolences. Earlier, Yogi met with eyewitnesses of the incident at the Police Line to gather firsthand information. A female constable on duty described the chaotic scene at the satsang to the CM, explaining how the stampede caused people to fall on top of each other, with a significant number of women being affected. Despite their attempts to get up, they could not as more women continued to fall, she added. Accompanying CM were BJP state president Bhupendra Chaudhary, Cabinet Ministers Lakshmi Narayan Chaudhary, Asim Arun, and Sandeep Singh, as well as the local MLA, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Prasad. After visiting the injured, CM Yogi went to Sikandra Rao in Hathras, where a large number of devotees tragically died in a stampede on Tuesday. He was accompanied by three ministers, the Chief Secretary, the DGP, and the local MLA. The Divisional Commissioner of Aligarh briefed Yogi in detail about the events leading up to the accident. Meanwhile, the SDM of Sikandra Rao has submitted his investigation report on the Hathras accident to the DM of Hathras. The report states that over 2,00,000 devotees were in the pandal during the Satsang. After the Satsang ended, the crowd surged forward to have a darshan of Narayan Sakar Hari (Bhole Baba) and touch his feet. When the devotees rushed towards his vehicle, Bhole Baba and his personal security personnel (Black Commandos) and sewadars began pushing and shoving the crowd. This caused some people to fall. The crowd then moved towards the open field in front of the event venue, where people slipped and fell due to the slope while descending from the road to the field. Unable to get back up, the fallen were trampled as the crowd scattered. Many women, men, and children died or seriously injured. The injured were immediately transported to nearby hospitals and community health centres by police security personnel using ambulances and other available means...////...
