Barabanki (UP), Apr 4 (Reporter) Four members of a family, including a couple and their two minor children, are suspected to have drowned when the motorcycle they were riding plunged into a canal in Zaidpur area of Barabanki district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Friday. Police sources said that Pawan Kumar (35), a resident of Gangauli village in Fatehpur Kotwali area, along with his wife Urmila (32), daughter Ragini (12) and son Arpit (8), had gone to attend a marriage function of his relative's son in Matiyari, Lucknow on April 2. "From there, the family left on the motorcycle late at night, but they never reached home," they said. Police sources said that Pawan's father Ramnath and family members started the search after not getting any news till Thursday morning. "The family reached Chinhat police station in Lucknow and filed a missing person report," they said. Police sources said that on Thursday the body of a woman was found in the canal of Zaidpur, whose picture went viral on social media. "On Friday when the family saw this picture, they identified the body as that of Urmila," they said. Police sources said that the police who reached the spot to investigate found Pawan's motorcycle in the canal, which strengthened the suspicion that the entire family drowned. The police have called SDRF and launched the search operation," they said. Inspector Deva Ajay Kumar Tripathi said that the canal goes towards Haidergarh via Zaidpur, Sidhour, so the search operation is being conducted all along the way. "Nets have also been put at many places in the canal so that the missing people can be found," he said. Superintendent of Police (SP) Dinesh Kumar Singh said that the search operation is going on at a fast pace and some clues are expected soon.
