Badaun (UP), July 26 (Reporter) Fourteen people, including nine members of a family, were sentenced to life imprisonment by a special court in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun in a 17-year-old murder and dacoity case, a prosecution counsel said here on Friday. Special Judge Rekha Sharma held 14 accused guilty and sentenced them to life imprisonment on Thursday, said Public Prosecutor Rajesh Babu Sharma, sharing details of the case registered in 2007. "Those who have been sentenced include Arman, Dharm Singh, Bharose, Atar Singh, Ram Singh, Naresh, Bhagwan Singh, Vinit, Prem Singh, Veer Pal, Balveer, Teetu, Dharmver, and Shripal," he said. The Prosecutor said that Radhey Shyam, a resident of Kharkhol under Zareef Nagar police station, was murdered in 2007. "Harpal Singh lodged a report that on February 15, 2007 family members of Radhey Shyam attacked his house with sharp-edged weapons," the prosecutor said. "The complainant alleged that the attackers looted his house and killed his son Paan Singh. "Initially a case was lodged against 12 persons. The police during investigation added four more names in the FIR and filed a charge sheet against 16 people in the court," he said. He said that the convicts, who were out on bail, were sent to jail.
