New Delhi, Mar 28 (Reporter) All airports in the country will soon have facilities like drinking water, tea, coffee, and snacks at reasonable rates, Union Civil Aviation Minister K Ramamohana Naidu said on Friday.
Taking part in a debate on a private resolution headlined "Appropriate measures for regulation of air travel fares" in the Lok Sabha, the minister responded to members' concerns over drinking water being very expensive at airports.
Naidu said a system has been laid out to provide drinking water at cheap rates at airports.
Earlier, Speaker Om Birla asked the Civil Aviation Minister to consider installing water coolers at all airports.
The minister said a few airports like in Chennai and Ahmedabad, are provideing drinking water at Rs 10, and tea and coffee and snacks at Rs 20.
He assured the members that such arrangements will be put in place at all airports in India soon.
Several members demanded the government take immediate steps to address the problem.
The members pointed out that a one-litre bottle of water costs between Rs 100 and Rs 120 at airports, and described it as an injustice to passengers...////...
