Deoria (UP), Apr 12 (Reporter) Two people accused of throwing inflammable substance on two girls were arrested after an encounter with the police from Gauri Bazar area of Deoria district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said on Friday. Superintendent of Police (SP) Sankalp Sharma said that the girls were attacked with inflammable substance near Devgaon turn while they were going to Gauri Bazar from their home on cycle. "A case was lodged at Gauri Bazar police station in this regard, and the matter was being investigated by the police," he said. He said that late on Thursday night, the joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG) and Gauri Bazar spotted three people moving on a motorcycle in a suspicious manner. "On being challenged by the police, the criminals opened fire on the joint team," he said. The SP said that in retaliatory firing, two criminals, identified as Shekhar and Dara Singh, sustained bullet injuries to their legs and were arrested. "Their third accomplice managed to escape from the spot. The injured accused have been admitted to the district hospital," he said.
