Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that the 300th birth anniversary celebrations of Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai Holkar will conclude with grand events from May 29 to 31. The festivities, which have included a Cabinet meeting in Maheshwar, naming a battalion after her, theatrical performances, and art exhibitions, will now feature a light and sound show. Dr. Yadav has also directed that programs be organized at Lokmata’s birthplace in Maharashtra.
In a meeting held at the Ministry regarding the Tricentennial Celebration Committee, CM Yadav instructed that Maheshwari saree sales centers be established at key locations to increase their popularity. Women involved in handloom weaving, dyeing, and designing are receiving training as part of this initiative. The global reputation of Maheshwari sarees dates back to Lokmata's reign, as the artistic designs from Maheshwar Fort's walls are woven into these sarees.
