Chennai, Apr 8 (Reporter) Terming Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi's action to withhold assent to the Bills passed in the State Assembly as Constitutionally wrong, Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister P Chidambaram hailed the Apex Court verdict using its special powers and ordering that all the Bills were deemed to have been assented by Mr Ravi. The Governor was wrong, Constitutionally wrong, he said. In a social media post, he said "I welcome the judgement of the Supreme Court today that the Governor of Tamil Nadu was wrong in withholding assent to Bills passed -- and re-affirmed - - by the TN State legislature". "The Constitutional position was always clear, and many jurists had explained the position several times. Yet the Governor withheld assent to many Bills", he wrote.
