Tiruppur (Tamil Nadu) Oct 9 (Reporter) Four members of a family were killed on the spot and 14 others injured, two of them critically, in a head-on collision between a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a tourist van at Karuppusamy Pudur near Madathukulam in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. Police said the deceased were identified as Thiagarajan (46), his wife Preethi (40), son Jayapriyan (11) and mother Manonmani (66), all hailing from Palani in Dindigul district, were returning to their house in a Mahindra Bolero SUV, after attending the funeral of their kin at Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore, when the accident occurred. The SUV collided head-on with a Tempo traveler van coming in the opposite direction. The SUV was completely mangled in the impact, killing Thiagarajan, Preethi, Jayapriyan, and Manonmani on the spot, while Thiagarajan’s father and another son were critically injured.
