Kolkata, July 14 (Reporter) Police have arrested three more suspects in the murder of Razzak Khan, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) area president of Chaltaberia in Bhangar, taking the total number of arrests to four. On Sunday night, officers from Kashipur police station apprehended Azharuddin Molla, Jahan Ali Khan, and Raju Molla. They are scheduled to be produced before the Baruipur sub-divisional court on Monday. The trio were arrested after police on Sunday morning arrested a TMC leader, Mofazzel Molla, a member of the TMC's Bhangar assembly committee. According to sources, during interrogation, Mofazzel provided crucial information that led investigators to the other suspects. Following this lead, police launched an operation and arrested the three additional accused from the Bijoyganj Bazar and Chak Moricha areas on Sunday night. The murder of Khan, who was believed to be close to local TMC MLA Shaukat Mollah, triggered widespread political turmoil and led to an extensive police manhunt, resulting in the arrest of four individuals. Apart from the local North Kashipur police, senior officers from the Kolkata Police Detective Department, Anti-Gang Division, and Special Branch have joined the investigation. Deputy Commissioner (Detective Department) of Kolkata police Rupesh Kumar, and Saikat Ghosh, DC of Bhangar Division, are closely monitoring the case. Sources also said that Rupesh Kumar personally interrogated Mofazzel Molla for several hours, leading to the identification of the three additional suspects. Razzak Khan was shot dead near his home on Thursday night while returning from a party meeting. Police reports state that three bullets were fired initially, followed by multiple strikes with a sharp weapon to kill him. Shaukat Mollah had claimed that rival Indian Secular Front (ISF) was behind the murder but ISF had denied the allegation and claimed that Razzak’s death was a result of Trinamool Congress’ internal bickering.
