Hyderabad, Feb 4 (Reporter) Telangana Minister for Transport and BC Welfare, Ponnam Prabhakar, lauded the Social, Economic, Employment, Education, Political, and Caste Survey 2024, calling it a historic step towards ensuring justice for weaker sections. Speaking on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s statement in the Assembly, Prabhakar noted that the last caste survey was conducted in 1931, and since then, a lack of accurate data has hindered the implementation of government schemes. He emphasised that the Congress government fulfilled its electoral promise, inspired by Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, where the need for caste-based representation became evident. The Minister highlighted that the survey was conducted under the Chief Secretary and Planning Department after the parliamentary elections, involving lakhs of government employees who collected data from every household in Telangana. The ₹160 crore project was executed meticulously, making Telangana a model for the entire country. Prabhakar urged all political parties not to politicize the aspirations of weaker sections, stating that the collected data would guide future policies and programs. He also recalled past struggles for caste-based data, including the Muralidhar Rao Commission of 1986. He expressed gratitude to Rahul Gandhi, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy for their leadership in ensuring the survey's success. The Minister reiterated that the Congress party is sincerely committed to justice for marginalized communities, adding that the data will be used to create a road map for equitable development. "This survey marks the beginning of a new era for weaker sections. It is a landmark decision that will benefit future generations, and I urge everyone to provide constructive suggestions," he added...////...
