Hyderabad, Mar 2 (Reporter) Telangana Chief A Revanth Reddy has suggested that the Mamnoor airport in Warangal should be developed on the lines of Kochi Airport and ensure the design should create continuous activity in the new airport.
Reddy, who conducted a review of the Mamnoor Airport in Warangal on Saturday, enquired of the officials regarding the status of land acquisition and pending works at the airport.
The Centre recently gave a nod to the second airport in Telangana in Warangal’s Mamnoor, less than 150 km from the state capital of Hyderabad.
The airport will come up at the existing airstrip at Mamnoor.
The Mamnoor airport, which was operational during the Nizam era, has been defunct for decades, and earlier plans for its revival never materialised.
State roads and buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had earlier said that the Telangana government had earlier released Rs 205 crore for handing over 253 acres of additional land required for the development of Mamnoor Airport to AAI.
At the meeting, the officials briefed the Chief Minister about the complete details of the new airport, which is coming up at Mamnoor in Warangal.
The CM ordered the officials to complete the land acquisition process at a fast pace and finalise the designs of the airport.
The CM asserted that the airport should be developed as a precious asset to the most happening city of Warangal with regular flight services and other related activities.
The officials have been asked to hold regular reviews on airport construction and update the government with monthly progress reports.
On this occasion, Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and other leaders of the old Warangal district, who met with the Chief Minister Reddy, thanked him for his constant efforts to get the Union Government's approval for the Mamnoor Airport...////...
