Telangana: BRS to boycott upcoming Hyderabad local body MLC election

Hyderabad, Apr 19 (Reporter) The main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana has decided to boycott the upcoming Hyderabad Local Body MLC elections to be held on April 23. Addressing a preparatory meeting of party leaders and elected representatives at Telangana Bhavan, ahead of the BRS silver Jubilee celebrations, BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Saturday announced the party’s decision to stay away from the MLC election of the Hyderabad Local Authorities’ Constituency as its party does not have the required strength to win. A whip would be issued to party councillors and strict action would be initiated if anyone ventures to defy it, he warned. KTR urged party workers to gear up for the imminent by-elections in the State. Outlining plans for the party’s future, including the launch of a digital membership drive post the April 27 rally and the organisation of training sessions for constituency-level workers, he announced that the party would hold its presidential election in October. Unveiling a comprehensive roadmap for the party’s upcoming political events, he expressed confidence in the party’s strength and said the party flag would continue to fly high. "Our party Supremo K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) would once again lead the State," he said, voicing confidence and underscored the BRS party’s strong presence in Hyderabad, surpassing that of national parties like Congress.
