Hyderabad, Feb 4 (Reporter) The Telangana Legislative Assembly on Tuesday approved the socio-economic caste census survey conducted in the state and passed a resolution urging the Central government to conduct a nationwide caste census.
The resolution, moved by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, received unanimous approval from the House.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the caste census is essential for formulating policies aimed at the welfare and development of various socioeconomic groups, including Backward Classes (BCs), Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
The Telangana government has taken the lead in conducting a comprehensive socio-economic caste survey, which is expected to serve as a crucial tool for policy-making and equitable resource allocation.
