Patna, June 20 (Reporter) Leader of opposition in Bihar assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav on Thursday said he would appeal to the Supreme Court against the Patna High Court verdict scrapping the hike in the reservation quota for SCs, STs, OBCs, and EBCs in case the state government failed to challenge the judgement before the top court. Exasperated with the court's verdict, which cancelled the reservation quota hike from 50 to 65 percent for SCs, STs, OBCs, and EBCs in state government services and educational institutions in Bihar, Yadav said the RJD was "hurt" by the decision and would continue to fight this issue. The RJD leader said he would move the Supreme Court against the high court's judgment in case the Bihar government failed to make any appeal. Yadav said he would write to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar requesting him to approach the Prime Minister to get the previous Government's decision regarding the 65 percent reservation quota for SCs, STs, OBCs, and EBCs incorporated in Schedule 9. For conveniently taking up the issue before the Prime Minister, he said that if needed a related proposal of all parties can be handed over to the PM. Yadav alleged that for long they had apprehensions of BJP playing some foul trick to scrap the reservation. He said during the Lok Sabha election campaign, the opposition parties had openly shared their doubts in public meetings on the issue. Accusing the BJP of being against reservation, Yadav said the saffron brigade had tried to sabotage the caste survey by filing several Public Interest Litigation petitions in the court, but the then grand alliance government, in which RJD was a major partner, had conducted it. He said based on the caste survey the reservation limit for SCs, STs, OBCs, and EBCs was increased to 65 percent without disturbing the 10 percent reservation limit for economically weaker sections in November last year. He said the then grand alliance government in December last year had recommended to the union government to incorporate the decision in schedule 9 so that it would remain intact on the pattern of Tamil Nadu. He alleged that even after the passage of six months, the BJP government did not execute it. Raising fingers at the silence of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on the issue Yadav said right from the caste survey till enhancing the reservation limit, Kumar, being head of the then grand alliance government had supported RJD, but after taking a "U" turn and joining the NDA government led by BJP he was "mysteriously" silent on it. He said it was the right of the oppressed sections to get due representation and reservation quota in accordance with their caste's population...////...
