Srinagar, June 24 (Reporter) A massive fire in Srinagar's old city destroyed several commercial and residential structures, including a mosque on Monday, officials said. At least four fire fighters were also injured during the dousing operation. Officials said the fire broke out from Bazaar Masjid Bohri Kadal, Srinagar, and in no time spread to nearby residential houses and commercial complexes. "A mosque and several structures were damaged in the fire incident, which has been brought under control now, " a fire and emergency official said. He said four firefighters were injured in the operation. "Two of them have been shifted to SHMS hospital," the officer added. Member of Parliament Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah, expressed sorrow over the devastating fire that occurred at Bohri Kadal Bazar Masjid Shareef in Srinagar. Mehdi promptly reached out to the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar via telephone to request assistance for those affected by the tragic incident, a party statement said. Hurriyat chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq called for a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire and urged the authorities to implement stringent safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
