Hyderabad, May 10 (Reporter) The Meteorological Centre reported on Saturday that the Southwest Monsoon is very likely to advance into the South Andaman Sea, parts of the Southeast Bay of Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands around May 13.
In its daily weather bulletin, the centre also noted the persistence of a trough in the westerlies extending from East Uttar Pradesh to Southeast Telangana across East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha, between 9.4 km and 12.6 km above mean sea level.
The north-south trough, which was earlier observed from North Interior Karnataka to the Gulf of Mannar, now extends from Marathwada to the Gulf of Mannar across Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.
Under its influence, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 60 kmph are likely to occur at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema over the next five days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places, a few places, or at isolated locations across Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema over the next seven days.
No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected during this period.
Heavy rainfall was recorded in Chittoor district of Rayalaseema during the past 24 hours. Rainfall also occurred at isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema.
The highest maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Jangamaheswarapuram in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, the report added...////...
