Bengaluru, May 10 (Reporter) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said on Saturday Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has convened a high-level meeting to assess the internal security situation in light of ongoing Operation Sindoor and war-related rumours circulating on social media.
Speaking to reporters here, Dr Parameshwara said the meeting will take stock of the state's preparedness measures and examine the necessary steps to be taken as per the advisory issued by the Government of India.
"We are reviewing existing preparedness protocols in the event of a war or a war-like situation. The Civil Defence has already initiated precautionary measures to maintain law and order and ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities," he said.
Highlighting concerns over the spread of false and inflammatory content, the Home Minister warned that such rumours could cause widespread chaos and shortages of essentials like food, water, and milk. "This is in response to certain individuals attempting to incite unrest by spreading false information about war, society, and communities," he said.
The meeting, Dr Parameshwara added, will be attended by Minister Priyank Kharge, officials from the IT department, and the Internal Security Division (ISD). The focus will be on devising effective strategies to block or counter misinformation and disinformation on digital platforms.
"My sincere appeal to social media users and media outlets is to refrain from circulating such misinformation. Any such posts must be immediately blocked to prevent public panic and unrest," he said...////...
