Mumbai, Sept 3 (Reporter)The equity market got a brake on Tuesday, closed negative at 82,555.44, easing 4.40 pts, snapping a rally of the last 13 sessions, on profit booking by local operators.
However, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended steady at 25,279.85, rising nominal 1.15 pts.
The seesaw trend was witnessed during the day, as the Sensex opened at 82,652.69, up 93 pts. It rallied 116 pts at 82,675.06, a day high. In late trade, it slipped 159 pts at 82,400.76 day low, before closing at 82,555.44, easing 4.40 pts from its previous close.
The NSE registered days high and low at 25,321.70 and 25,235.80 pts respectively.
The stocks that kept the market weak as Metal by 0.59 pc, Technology by 0.51 pc, and IT by 0.31 pc.
The Mid-cap rose by 0.19 and the Small-cap by 0.54 pc.
In 30 scrips, 12 advanced while 18 declined.
The losers were Bajaj Finance by 0.77 pc to Rs 1437.45, Tata Motors by 0.64 pc to Rs 1085.55, NTPC by 0.63 pc to Rs 407.25 and Tata Steel by 0.49 pc to Rs 152.10.
The gainers were ICICI Bank by 1.37 pc to Rs 1246.90, Bajaj Finserv by 1.30 pc to Rs 1863.95, Titan by 0.85 pc to Rs 3617, and Nestle India Ltd by 0.75 pc to Rs 2527.95...////...
