Sensex drops 454.69 points

Mumbai, Apr 18 (Reporter) The BSE Sensex remained negative for the fourth straight session on Thursday as it plummeted 454.69 pts to close at 72,488.99 as heavy selling was seen in consumer durable, health care, energy, and bankex stocks amid a positive trend in the Asian market. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 152.05 points to 21,995.85. The NSE registered days as high and low at 22,326.50 and 21,961.70 pts, respectively. The Sensex jumped 240 points to open at 73183.10. It rallied 530 points at 73,473.05 days high. In late trade, it erased earlier gains and finished in red at 72,488.99, down 454.69 points from its previous close. Meanwhile, it dropped to 576 points, days low. The stocks that fell were Consumer Durable by 1.52 pc, followed by Health Care by 1.23 pc, Energy by 1.28 pc, and Bankex by 1.09 pc. However, the midcap dropped 0.39 pc, while the small cap rose by 0.67 pc. In 30 scrips, 4 advanced, while 26 declined. The losers were Nestle India Ltd by 3.31 pc to Rs 2462.75, Titan by 3.31 pc to Rs 3526.40, Axis Bank by 2.72 pc to Rs 1024.15, NTPC by 2.19 pc to Rs 351.40 and Tata Motors by 2.12 pc to Rs 971.40. The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 4.15 pc to Rs 1267.20, Powergrid by 2.13 pc to Rs 280.20 and Infosys by 0.41 pc to Rs 1420.55. In the Asian Market, Strait times were up by 1.03 pc, Hang Seng by 0.82 pc, and Taiwan Weighted by 0.43 pc...////...
