Chennai, Oct 8 (Reporter) The Principal Opposition AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday temporarily suspended its senior leader and sitting legislator, Thalavai N.Sundaram from all party posts for
acting against the ideologies and principles.
In a statement, AIADMK General Secretary and Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly Edappadi K.Palaniswami said Mr Sundaram, a former Minister and an ex-Rajya Sabha MP, was suspended for acting in a manner that brought disrepute to the party and for violating party's discipline.
"Based on the information that Mr.Sundaram had defied the principles, objectives and rules of the party’s bylaws, he was temporarily relieved from the party posts he had been holding such as the organising secretary of the party and Kanniyakumari (East) District Secretary", he said.
The action against Mr.Sundaram followed after he flagged off a rally of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Kanniyakumari a couple of days ago.
Mr.Sundaram had served as the Revenue, Public Works Department and Health departments during the then AIADMK regime between 2001 and 2006. He also served as an AIADMK Rajya Sabha member from 1996 to May 2002 and also as Tamil Nadu government’s representative in New Delhi.
He was elected from Kanniyakumari Assembly constituency in the 2021 elections.
AIADMK broke its ties with the BJP and walked out of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on September 25, 2023 after strained relations with the saffron party, in the wake of BJP
State Unit President K.Annamalai allegedly making critical remarks against Dravidian stalwart and former CM late C.N.Annadurai.
Mr.Annamalai also stated that several administrations in Tamil Nadu were corrupt, leading to the conviction of former Chief Ministers (apparently referring to late Chief Minister and AIADMK
Supremo J.Jayalalitha) in courts of law, making it one of the most corrupt States in the country...////...
