Srinagar, Apr 4 (Reporter) J&K Peoples Conference President and MLA Handwara Sajad Lone on Friday pledged his unequivocal backing for Waqf legislation in the assembly while delivering a scathing critique of the National Conference's parliamentary representation.
"We will support unconditionally any bill brought in the J and K assembly pertaining to Waqf. If NC has any such intentions we will support it," Lone declared.
He also questioned NC saying, "But can they answer one simple question? Why on earth was their delivery in Parliament so lacklustre and so apologetically servile."
Highlighting the unique position of the region, Lone emphasised, "J&K is the only Muslim majority province in India. The parliamentarians from J&K should have roared like a lion not meowed like a cat."
Earlier the day, the ruling alliance, comprising the National Conference (NC), Congress and independent legislators, passed two key resolutions including the one condemning the passage of the Waqf Bill in Parliament. The ruling alliance is likely to also bring a resolution condemning the passage of the Waqf Bill in the Assembly.
Meanwhile, Sajad Lone, took a dig at the ruling coalition’s meeting in Srinagar.
“The ruling alliance which had called a meeting, ended their meeting with a solemn resolve to work at existing pay scale,” Lone said in a sarcastic post on X ...////...
