New Delhi, Feb 10 (Reporter) Urging the Members of the Rajya Sabha to ensure exemplary standards of conduct, Chairman of the Upper House Jagdeep Dhankhar said that they need to be a source of inspiration as Bharat is moving towards a Viksit Rashtra and a global leader.
Delivering the remarks on the last day of the Budget Session in the Rajya Sabha, Dhankhar said, "We are in an era of immense possibilities. Let us vigorously contribute to the continual, incremental rise of Bharat."
The Chairman said that in this short but important session, the House sat for nine days, dealing with 116 issues of public importance and answering 90 starred and 960 unstarred questions.
"Overall productivity during the session stood at an impressive figure of 137 percent," he added.
He said besides the discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address and the interim Union Budget, seven bills, including the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, the Jammu and Kashmir Local Bodies Laws (Amendment) Bill, and Constitution Amendment Bills related to the inclusion of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, were also passed.
Moreover, 22 private Members Bills were introduced in this session, the Vice President said.
He said the House also bid farewell to 68 members and urged the members to express appreciation for their distinguished service.
He also appreciated the Deputy Chairperson, Harivansh, and members of the Panel of Vice-Chairpersons for assisting him in conducting the proceedings of the House.
