New Delhi, Feb 10 (Reporter) The Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Saturday as Budget session of the Parliament concluded. On this occasion, presiding over the proceedings of the House, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the 17th Lok Sabha which held its first meeting on June 17, 2019 has been historic in various ways. The work productivity of the 17th Lok Sabha stood at 97%, the highest among the last five Lok Sabhas. Om Birla said that a total of 274 sittings were held in the 17th Lok Sabha which lasted for 1,354 hours. "In the 17th Lok Sabha, the House sat for 345 hours more than the scheduled time and did its work," Birla said. As per the official productivity statistics, as many as 387 hours of time was wasted due to disruptions in 17th Lok Sabha. As many as 222 laws were passed in the 17th Lok Sabha while 202 Bills were introduced during the 17th Lok Sabha. "Out of 543 members of the 17th Lok Sabha, 540 members participated in the discussion in the House," Lok Sabha Speaker said. Speaker Birla said that women had maximum representation in the 17th Lok Sabha and actively participated in the proceedings of the House. He said that more than 69% of recommendations of Parliamentary committees in the 17th Lok Sabha were accepted by the government. "During this Lok Sabha, 5,568 matters were raised during zero hour," he said. Birla said that during the 17th Lok Sabha many ineffectual laws from the pre-independence era were repealed and were replaced by new laws. Three Constitution Amendment Bills were also passed by the House during the term of this Lok Sabha. He informed that during the 17th Lok Sabha, 4,663 starred questions were listed, out of which 1,116 questions were answered orally. In the same period, 55,889 unstarred questions were also asked which received written answers in the House. All the listed starred questions were answered orally on two occasions during this Lok Sabha. The Speaker noted that during the 17th Lok Sabha savings of around Rs 875 crore was made.
