Shimla, Jan 26 (Reporter) Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla unfurled the tricolour amidst jubilant festivities at the historic Ridge, marking the 75th Republic Day celebrations in the state. An impressive march past, led by a contingent from the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles, reverberated through the crisp January air. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu joined the Governor in witnessing the display of unwavering dedication by various forces, including the Army, ITBP, Police, Home Guards, and NCC cadets. The colourful tableaux showcased the progress of different departments, with the Horticulture Department’s display taking the top prize. Cultural performances by troupes from across the state and Haryana enthralled the audience, while the police band added a stirring rhythm to the festivities. The governor acknowledged the achievements of hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and presented appreciation certificates to top performers. A poignant moment came as the Governor and Chief Minister released balloons bearing the message ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ (Save the Girl Child, Educate the Girl Child), emphasising the importance of empowering girls.
