Chandigarh, May 14 (Reporter) The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its drive against corruption in the state, on Tuesday apprehended an ASI Rajwinder Singh, posted at police station Lehra city, Sangrur district, while accepting a bribe of Rs 6,000.
A spokesperson for the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Anoop Singh, a resident of Lehra town.
He further added that the complainant has approached the VB and informed them that his relative Parvinder Devi was staying on rent at village Gaga. She had lodged a complaint at the police station in Lehra city against her landlord, Rakesh Jindal, about his misbehaviour.
The complainant further alleged that while approaching the above-mentioned ASI, he demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 for allowing tenant Parvinder Devi to pick up her belongings from the rented accommodation. The complainant further added that the said police personnel had already taken Rs 2000 in advance and agreed to accept Rs 6,000 as a bribe in the second installment.
In this regard, a case has been registered at the VB police station in Patiala. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow, and further investigation into this case was under progress, he added...////...
