Aktau, Dec 25 (Reporter) Preliminary information indicate that there were 62 passengers and five crew members were on board the plane that crashed in Aktau, the Kazakh Ministry of Transport said on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, the Kazakh Emergency Situations Ministry said that an Azerbaijan Airlines plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed at the Aktau airport in western Kazakhstan. Preliminary reports indicate that there are survivors. The preliminary cause of the plane crash in Kazakhstan's Aktau was a collision with a flock of birds, according to Azerbaijan Airlines.
"According to preliminary information from the Azerbaijani side, there were 62 passengers and five crew members on board," the ministry said in a statement.
